Terms and conditions

Last updated 31 October 2026. These terms are between you and DataLift (“we”, “us”), for the DataLift app (“the app”), its licences and support, and this website. Contact: info@datalift.co.uk · support: support@datalift.co.uk.

1. Free and Pro

The Free version is free of charge. You need to confirm an email address to use it. It lets you scan an iPhone and preview its contents but not save, export or transfer them. Pro unlocks those features for the plan you buy.

2. Your Pro licence

  • One computer. Each licence key works on the first computer it is activated on. To use Pro on another computer you need another key. If you replace or reset your computer, contact us and we'll move the key.
  • Number of iPhones. 1 Month covers 5 different iPhones, 1 Year covers 10 and Lifetime covers 15. An iPhone counts the first time you use a Pro feature with it. Using the same iPhone again doesn't count again.
  • How long it lasts. 1 Month and 1 Year licences start on the day you first activate them and end one month or twelve months later. Lifetime licences don't expire for as long as we offer the app. When a licence ends, the app returns to Free. Licences don't renew automatically, and we won't charge you again.
  • Checking in. Pro checks your licence with our server at most once a day, and keeps working offline for up to 7 days between checks. Adding a new iPhone needs an internet connection.
  • Don't share, resell or try to get round the licence checks. We may cancel a key that has been shared or bought fraudulently.

3. Prices and payment

Prices are in pounds sterling and include any VAT that applies. Payment is taken by Stripe when you order. We email your licence key straight after payment.

4. Refunds

You may request a full refund within 14 days of purchase if your licence key has not been activated, or if DataLift does not work with your iPhone and we are unable to fix the issue. Contact support@datalift.co.uk with your order details. This policy does not limit any rights you have under applicable consumer law. See the refund policy for details.

5. If something goes wrong

Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 aren't affected. If the app is faulty or doesn't match its description, contact us and we'll repair or replace it. If we can't, we'll give you some or all of your money back.

6. What the app can and can't do

Recovery depends on what is still stored on the iPhone or in a backup. Apple's encryption means files that have been fully deleted usually cannot be recovered, and we can't promise any particular item will be found. Pro features that change an iPhone, such as restore, repair and erase, show what will happen and ask you to confirm. Erasing deletes everything on the iPhone. Keep your own backups of anything important.

7. Your responsibility

Only use the app on iPhones that you own or have the owner's permission to access. The app does not bypass passcodes or Activation Lock.

8. Our liability

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We aren't responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable, or for business losses if you use a home licence for business. Nothing here limits our liability where the law doesn't allow it.

9. Support

Support is free for everyone, including Free users. Open a ticket, use Help in the app, email support@datalift.co.uk or message us on WhatsApp. We aim to reply within one working day (Monday-Saturday, UK time). Please don't send passwords, card numbers or customers' personal data in a ticket unless we ask for something specific. Updates to the app are free for as long as your licence lasts.

10. Newsletter and emails

We only send the newsletter if you subscribe and confirm by email. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in every newsletter. Emails about your account, licence or tickets are part of the service and aren't marketing.

11. Using this website

You may use this website to learn about, download and buy DataLift. Don't try to break, overload or get round its security, or use the support form to send spam. We try to keep the information here accurate, but prices and features can change - the price shown when you pay is the one that applies.

12. Open-source software

The app includes open-source components, including pymobiledevice3 and pyiosbackup, which are licensed under the GNU General Public License version 3. You have the rights that licence gives you. To request the corresponding source code, email us. A list of components and their licences is included with the app.

13. Trademarks

iPhone, iCloud, iOS and Mac are trademarks of Apple Inc. WhatsApp is a trademark of WhatsApp LLC. The app is independent and is not made by or affiliated with Apple or WhatsApp.

14. Changes and law

We may update these terms - the date at the top shows the latest version, and changes don't apply to a licence you've already bought unless the law requires it. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring claims in your local courts.
